Purpose

This website is dedicated to all who contend with the human condition, from a fellow contender, imperfect “everyman” and all-too-human, whimsical sentimentalist.

Featuring a growing collection of individual stories, both yours and mine, The Point of Meaning serves to motivate us through the existential suffering commonly experienced by humanity.

Did you lose your sense of meaning or have yet to find it – for the next or first time in your life?

Let’s find and celebrate it.

Individual meaning will vary from one person to the next, yet in spite of our differences you will notice that we are the same. All are connected and relate to each other through suffering.

It is individual meaning that makes the suffering experienced over the course of our lives more bearable. It justifies our existence and effort to push forward each day, instead of giving up, or worse, exacting revenge against anything or anyone who played a role in that suffering.

Pursuing happiness, ultimately, rather than meaning, is a self-disappointing and unrealistic goal. Happiness is temporary and those visits are short. We need something greater… and that is meaning. It will lead us to personal fulfillment and a life we feel is worth living, despite our suffering.

Meaning makes life worth living. It gives us strength and the resolve to keep going; and since our life is already short, at the end of the day, it has to mean something.

Forget everyone and their expectations. As an individual, what gives your life meaning?

Be honest.
